Today I’ll share my personal opinions regarding the “Black Tie” dress code.
You just received a party invitation where it requires a dress code and you suddenly go into panic and decide to crash ur bank card??? I feel you girlfriend! 🙂
” A black tie party or wedding invitation” requires you to be a little formal but sensual and feminine at the same time. In other words, it is ok to show your body shape, a strapless dress, naked shoulders… long or short the gown! Bottom line: Cleavage is allowed! (Always with grace though!)
Also it is very important to determine how close you are to the hosting people.
If you are escorting you partner to a friend you barely ever met, it is preferable not to go for the cocktail dress but something a little bit more formal that won’t make you feel awkward or out of place. Also as you may know the saying “there’s no second chance for first impression”, if you are attending a party where you are being invited, it is better to have a dress that won’t make you uncomfortable every time you shake hands with someone you don’t know. On the other hand, too much cleavage won’t make your partner feel comfortable either if you are meeting a lot of his mates! He may adore it when you hit the clubs together, but this is not the case…
Getting back on track, it is called “black” but it doesn’t mean necessarily that the dress should be black. The idea of the “black tie” is for a party in the afternoon and not that formal like the “white tie” party code. I love black colors and if you are the black dress type this is also the day to wear it, but if you are attending this party in the summer, then I would think of colors, Bright ones if possible and don’t forget gloves! 🙂
You can check on the dentellebleue collection for ideas, if you are going to attend one of these days a “black tie” party. I have picked my favourite ones (pictures following)! Hope you enjoyed my blog and don’t worry if you feel like critisizing! xoxo
